Ugliest Skin Shop in SL

And the award goes to... envelope please....

*drumroll*

Zindra Unnamed 512 Parcel Skin Store!
slurl.com/secondlife/Fuson/234/6/76
It is hard to describe the deficiencies of this build with words. I dare not venture into discussing the quality of goods for sale here. I will stick to the architecture.

This is a two storey box store that has the rare distinction of having the wrong textures on every single facade and interior surface of it. Exterior walls are rippled silk, the exterior columns are made of a window texture. The roof is a glowing blue water-like texture. The flooring is the freebie rug stretched and repeated to become a the concrete floors -- that mind you stick outside the build on all sides in a haphazard way as if the builder was in a hurry and they had to throw up prims due to prim poisoning so they took care of business and left.

The parcel was not even named. There's no signage, no indication of what we should call this hellhole end of the grid.

tsk tsk....

A Gem in Caledon Not....

Phantasmagoria Theater in Caledon
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Caledon%20II/190/65/24
I got a lead from a fellow resident that a particular part of Caledon, the estate in SL, was being plagued by how shall I say, a build less than professionally built. I had no idea, what I would see would blind my avie's eyes...

In all fairness, the idea is a good one. The execution however is nothing short of 2 day newb building dream theater in Cordova sandbox. There are flashing overlapping surfaces everywhere. The prim work is rough. The texture work is worse as many freebie textures are used and they're used in sizes and repetitions that are most inappropriate. Especially the use of the cliched and ugly art glass freebie texture made me want to throw up a little.

The interior of the theater is slightly better yet it makes one wonder why anyone would build a 5 screen movieplex in SL if they already know that that many people can never be in the same sim at once.

The main movie screen space has promise. Gosh I want to take this person aside and show them that this very same idea could be scaled down some and redone in a way that would be very close to the original structure but look tens of times better.

So nice try but.... gotta keep trying ... this theater is an eye sore. I was astonished something like this could stay up in Caledon. I thought they were all particular with style and quality. Apparently not.

Elan Design & Advertising Primal Fusion Shirts & Gallery

Now I do not want to be all mean today so here's the deal this gallery actually has some pretty good bones and ideas behind it.

I think it is the location, the execution and the cramped nature of the building that take away from the glory it could have attained.

Unfortunately the juxtaposition of a few other builds around it has rendered this building ugly as it does not fit any of the things around it.

It is on a road and we all know that no one uses SL roads anymore -- they are valueless and waste of prims as our vehicles frequently breakdown in SL and teleporting and flying are so much easier.

The building is in modern style, and I must admit if it were scaled up a bit, with more interior space and some of the front facade details and interior ramps were fixed -- it could be a good building.

This gallery was built by Zibriah Landar who was born in 2008 in SL and has much to learn still.

So although I am featuring this build in my not to rez blog, I think that this person put the effort, did something and now that it is done needs to continue learning and building in SL. One day this avatar will make something worth rezzing. I am sure of it.

Good luck.

Prokofy Neva's Fish Sticks on Crack

I was flying around aimlessly once more trying to avoid ugliness but then as luck would have it I stumbled upon this location owned by a "Prokofy Neva"; The name seems familiar but I can not figure out why. Anyways....

Words defy me and I find myself unable to describe the ugliness of this lot of land and the structures above it. I think this so called restaurant may be the cautionary tale that marks the coming of the demise of the mainland in Second Life.

The problem with the level playing field of Second Life is that people who have no business rezzing things are able to throw something up on their land and call it something fancy like "come and get your own sticky fingers, fish sticks and crabs".

And one would get the proverbial eye crabs as well as mind crabs if one were to stay in this hell hole for too long. Because I care about my avatar I left in a few minutes and I hope I never have to go back to this prim throw up.

But what is a hate blog without some pics for others to bemoan. So here are the pics that I could take before my snapshot camera broke from all the ugliness.

What is this blog??

This is where I will drop all niceties and tell it like it is and show the ugliest, nastiest builds I can find in Second Life for everyone to see. Am I being mean? Absolutely. Hope you enjoy it.
